Townsville Football Cup (2014)

3 match days. 6 matches. 90 players. 540 minutes of action.

24th, 27th and 30th August, 2014.

A-League football returned to Townsville in August with an exciting new pre-season tournament known as Wingate Properties Townsville Football Cup. The tourn

ament invited A-League clubs Brisbane Roar, Newcastle United Jets and Sydney FC in addition to local NPL heavyweights Northern Fury FC; PLUS the North Queensland All-Star Team to compete at the Townsville Sports Reserve.

The Wingate Properties Football Cup was run in an effort to bring the A-league back to Townsville and support the Northern Fury in its attempt to re-enter the league. As the largest tropical city in Australia, a huge economic contributor and with a passionate, sports loving community, we believe Townsville should boast a team in all National sporting competitions. We hope that the Wingate Properties Townville Football Cup will help to bring an A-League team based in the city once again.

Wingate Properties continues to support football in Townsville and North Queensland and remains an active part of the community.
